What Type of Wax do You Use?
The main types of wax used in our salon are hard and soft wax. We talk to each client to determine the wax we will use for their hair removal treatment because choosing the right type of wax is critical to achieving the best possible results.
Soft Wax
Using a soft wax is often referred to as strip waxing. To use soft wax, you spread a thin layer of the warm body wax on the skin, typically used on larger areas of the body, like arms, legs, chest, and back using a wooden stick or roller. Next, a strip of cloth is applied, then pulled off, which removes the unwanted hair.
Soft waxes do a fantastic job of removing fine hair and will leave you with silky smooth skin. The only disadvantage to using soft wax may be that it can only be used one time each visit. Using it more than once may cause skin irritation or even bleeding.
Hard Wax
For most of our clients, we prefer to use hard wax for small and sensitive areas of the body. Hard waxes are applied to the skin while warm, then allowed to cool and harden. After it has hardened it is pulled off, in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
One of the best things about hard wax is it will only bind to the hair, not your skin. Because hard wax does not bind to your skin, it is less painful than soft wax and may be used multiple times during a single visit, without damaging your skin.
Other Types of Body Wax
There are other types of body wax, which are used in salon settings. Although we only use hard and soft body wax, your feedback is always welcome. If you would like us to consider adding another type of wax to our services, feel free to call us or discuss it with your technician.
